Job summary

Pacific National in NSW is seeking safety‑driven Level 2 Assistant Drivers to join our Coal and Bulk team in Mudgee, NSW. After onboarding, you will complete Engine & Air school and be trained as a Level 4 Locomotive Driver.

You’ll work 24/7 on a rotating roster with industry-leading training and a supportive environment, with benefits including paid parental leave, novated leasing options, Fitness Passport and wellbeing programs.

Qualifications

• Full Australian working rights.
• Level 2 Assistant Driver nationally recognised qualifications.
• NSW Safe Working qualifications (Train Order will be advantageous).
• Valid unrestricted Class C licence and reliable transport.
• Category 1 Rail Medical, Musculoskeletal assessment, and ongoing drug/alcohol compliance.
• National Police Check.
• A strong, proven commitment to safety.
• Ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster.
• Flexibility to meet operational demands.

Responsibilities

• Prioritise safety in every moment, safely every day.
• Complete pre-start checks and required compliance documentation.
• Prepare, operate and shut down locomotives in line with operational procedures.
• Maintain clear, professional communication in safety critical environments.
• Monitor train performance and respond to changing conditions.
• Work with teams to deliver safe, reliable outcomes for customers.
