Job summary

Austin Health in Melbourne's CBD and inner suburbs is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager to lead the nursing team in the Radiation Oncology Department. This full-time fixed-term role covers long service leave and runs from 4 January 2027 to 25 April 2027.

You will model core values, deliver evidence-based care, drive change, ensure safe staffing, and manage resources. Applications close 26 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse Division 1 (General) registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
• Post-Graduate Qualification in Nursing, Management or equivalent, (or working towards)
• Leadership experience in situations demanding action.
• Expert clinical knowledge and direction to ensure that clinical standards, policies and procedures promote a patient focused model of care.
• Promotes and ensures a safe and healthy workplace for staff and patients.
• Communicate information and expectations in a way that builds effective and collaborative working relationships with others.

Responsibilities

• Lead the nursing team within the Radiation Oncology Department.
• Ensure delivery of evidence-based nursing care meeting professional, organisational, legal and ethical standards.
• Foster a positive culture, drive change, a safe working environment and the effective utilisation of financial resources.
• Drive continuous service improvement within the unit.
