Job summary

Sydney Local Health District is seeking a Radiation Safety Officer and Laser Safety Officer to join Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. You will ensure safe use of ionising and laser radiation in clinical practice and research, oversee the radiation protection program, and advise staff and patients on safety matters.

The role requires a degree in physical science (MSc preferred) and eligibility to hold NSW EPA radiation licences, with a focus on regulatory compliance and robust safety leadership.

Qualifications

• Degree in physical science with knowledge of ionising and non-ionising radiation.
• Experience applying radiation control legislation and codes of safe practice.
• Eligibility for NSW EPA radiation licence.
• Strong communication and advisory skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe and optimal use of ionising and laser radiation in clinical practice and research.
• Oversee the hospital's radiation protection program and compliance with legislation.
• Provide radiation safety advice to staff, patients and the public.
• Prepare radiation dose estimates for procedures and studies.
