Job summary

Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd invites applications for a Quoting Advisor, based in your local branch, leveraging hands-on heavy equipment knowledge to assess repair and rebuild requirements and deliver tailored solutions.

You will act as the technical link between customers, workshops and internal stakeholders, developing detailed quotes, pricing labour and parts, and managing WIP to ensure accurate, competitive quotations across CAT product ranges.

Qualifications

• Experience working on Caterpillar or similar heavy mobile equipment.
• Knowledge of machine and component rebuild processes.
• Ability to interpret technical information, inspection reports and customer requirements.
• Strong communication and commercial awareness.
• Experience in estimating or quoting is advantageous.

What you’ll be doing

Are you a qualified tradesperson looking to move off the tools while staying close to the machinery you know best? We’re looking for a Quoting Advisor to join our award‑winning team. Working out of your local branch, this role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment who can confidently assess repair and rebuild requirements, develop accurate scopes of work and provide tailored solutions for our customers. You'll use your hands‑on experience and technical expertise to help plan major machine and component rebuilds across our Cat® product range, playing a critical role in keeping our customers' equipment operating at peak performance.

As a Quoting Advisor, you'll be the technical link between our customers, workshops and internal stakeholders, responsible for:

• Developing detailed quotes for machine and component rebuilds, repairs and overhauls
• Reviewing inspection reports and technical information to determine repair requirements
• Applying your knowledge of Caterpillar equipment, components and rebuild practices to create effective solutions
• Pricing labour, parts and resources to ensure accurate and competitive quotations
• Managing Work In Progress (WIP) and monitoring quote progression
• Building strong relationships with customers, technicians and operational teams
• Supporting outstanding customer outcomes through quality, accuracy and technical expertise

About you

You'll be someone who understands heavy equipment because you've worked on it. Ideally, you'll have:

• Experience working on Caterpillar or similar heavy mobile equipment
• Strong knowledge of machine and component rebuild processes
• The ability to interpret technical information, inspection reports and customer requirements
• Practical problem‑solving skills and commercial awareness
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders
• Previous experience in estimating or quoting is advantageous but not essential.

If you've spent time diagnosing, rebuilding and repairing heavy equipment, we'll help you develop the quoting skills.
