Job summary

Heidelberg Materials is seeking a hands-on Quarry Operator based at Byford Quarry, WA, to safely manage day-to-day mobile plant operations and general labour tasks. You will work 10-hour shifts starting at 3:30pm, with opportunities to develop skills in hard‑rock processing and site maintenance.

Ideal candidates have experience in fixed or mobile crushing operations, a strong mechanical aptitude, and a proactive approach to plant upkeep.

Qualifications

• Experience in fixed-plant process operations or crushing/mineral-processing operations.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and proactive maintenance attitude.
• Competence operating mobile plant and equipment—additional training provided if needed.

About the Role

Based at Byford Quarry (4 km south of Byford, accessible from Rockingham and Mandurah). 3:30pm start, 10‑plus‑hour shifts. Carry out safe day‑to‑day operations of mobile plant and other duties around the quarry, including general labour and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor crushing plant and associated machinery safely and efficiently.
• Conduct routine plant inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Assist with plant set‑up, calibration, and shutdown procedures.
• Operate mobile plant supporting hard‑rock processing operations (loader, articulated haul truck, skid steer) with opportunities to progress to other mining equipment.

Skills & Experience

• Prior experience in fixed‑plant process operations, fixed or mobile crushing operations, or other screening/mineral‑processing operations.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and proactive attitude toward plant maintenance.
• Competence in operating mobile plant and equipment (e.g., loaders, excavators, dump trucks) – additional training provided if needed.
• Positive can‑do attitude.
