Job summary

Silicon Quantum Computing is hiring a Quantum Engineer to automate device calibration for multi-qubit processors. You will turn manual qubit measurements into robust workflows, improve uptime and throughput, and evaluate third-party tools.

The role suits an early-career experimentalist with strong Python skills and a passion for scalable quantum platforms. You will work with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate calibration into the full control stack and contribute to advancing architectures

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Honours, or Master’s degree in physics, quantum engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience measuring quantum devices or automating complex laboratory experiments.
• Strong proficiency in Python with sound software engineering practices.
• Highly organized and detail oriented, able to drive work to completion in a dynamic startup.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams with shared ownership of outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Perform characterisation of atom spin-qubit devices, including tune-up, readout optimisation, stability measurements, qubit performance etc.
• Design, implement, and maintain automated calibration and tune-up workflows to maximise processor uptime and measurement throughput.
• Research, evaluate, and integrate third-party control and calibration tools into SQC’s measurement and control stack.
• Develop and maintain measurement and data analysis code, with an emphasis on reliability, reusability, and integration into the wider stack.
• Analyse experimental datasets and extract clear performance metrics against defined requirements.
• Collaborate with software and hardware engineering teams to ensure calibration workflows integrate cleanly with the full control stack.
• Stay abreast of industry trends in automated calibration, quantum control, and characterisation tooling.
