Tower Research Capital is seeking a Quantitative Researcher Intern in Sydney. The role targets Bachelor's or Master's students to work on high‑frequency trading algorithms, data analysis, and tool development, under mentors from a leading quantitative trading firm with a global platform.

You will explore market data, build analytical tools, and contribute to simulators while engaging with top engineers and researchers in a results‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s student in computer science, mathematics, physics, or related fields.
• Proficient in object‑oriented programming (C++ and Python preferred).
• Working knowledge of Linux/Unix; strong problem‑solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize quantitative research algorithms.
• Analyze market data and microstructure to explore trading ideas.
• Develop tools to analyze data patterns and support trading decisions.
• Calibrate simulators and libraries for analytics.

Responsibilities

• Designing, implementing, and deploying mid- to high-frequency trading algorithms
• Exploring trading ideas by analyzing market data and market microstructure for patterns
• Creating tools to analyze data for patterns
• Contributing to libraries of analytical computations to support market data analysis and trading
• Developing, augmenting, and calibrating exchange simulators

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s student
• Currently in the penultimate or final year of academic study
• Majoring in computer science, mathematics, physics, machine learning, or related fields
• Proficient in an object-oriented programming language (C++ and Python preferred)
• A working knowledge of Linux/Unix
• Strong problem-solving abilities
• A passion for new technologies and ideas
• The ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentStrong communication skills
• Interest in financial markets

Preferred Qualifications (not required)

• Past industry experience and/or participation in relevant Olympiads
• Familiarity with machine learning, data analysis, market research and data modeling
