Job summary

AKG Australia is seeking a qualified Counsellor or Social Worker to deliver clinical services, assessments and counselling across our Innisfail, Atherton and Mareeba sites. This permanent part-time role covers three days per week, with a focus on helping clients identify strengths, work readiness and vocational goals.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, hold professional registration, and maintain necessary checks.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Counselling OR Rehabilitation Counsellor OR Social Worker with AOD experience.
  • Registration/Membership with ACA, PACFA, ASORC or AASW is essential.
  • Clinical or mental health counselling experience preferred.
  • Ability to motivate and engage clients.
  • Solution-focused approach aligned to vocational goals.
  • Excellent organisation and time management.
  • Must obtain Working with Children Check and police check/yellow card.
  • Driver's licence currently held.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver clinical services through evidence-based, individual and group interventions and counselling.
  • Conduct assessments identifying strengths, skills, experience and vulnerabilities for employment.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of Allied Health Professionals.
  • Provide services across sites in Innisfail, Atherton and Mareeba on a permanent part-time basis.

The Opportunity


  • Deliver clinical services through evidence based, individual and group interventions and counselling

  • Provide a variety of services including assessments that identify individual strengths, skills, experience and vulnerabilities in employment

  • Gain expertise by working with a multidisciplinary team of Allied Health Professionals

  • Permanent Part-time role (3 days a week) covering our sites in Innisfail, Atherton and Mareeba.


Would this describe you?



  • Tertiary qualification in your discipline of either: Qualified Counsellor OR Rehabilitation Counsellor OR Social Worker with AOD experience

  • Registration/Membership with relevant state or national professional body is essential (i.e. ACA or PACFA or ASORC or AASW)

  • Clinical counselling or mental health counselling

  • Proven ability to motivate and genuinely engage with people

  • Solution focused therapeutic approach which links to vocational goals

  • Strong organisational skills

  • Willing to obtain a Working with Children Check and national police check/yellow card

  • Be able to obtain a myID

  • Current drivers licence
