Cipher Recruitment is seeking a Python and AWS Developer based in Melbourne for a permanent full‑time role. The position combines on‑premise leadership with 2–3 days per week in the office and cloud‑first delivery across financial services projects.

You will build high‑performance financial applications in Python, leverage AWS for scalable cloud solutions, and integrate APIs with external financial data providers. Prior trading‑systems exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of Python development experience, ideally in financial services.
• Strong AWS experience with hands-on work (Lambda, S3, EC2, RDS).
• Bonus: experience in financial services trading platforms or data processing.
• Experience building/consuming APIs with third‑party financial data providers.
• SQL and NoSQL experience for financial data in relational and non-relational databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud automation tools; Git is a plus.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Python Development: Building and optimizing high-performance financial applications in Python. React a MUST for this role
• AWS Cloud Engineering: Working with AWS (Lambda, S3, RDS, EC2) to build scalable cloud-based financial systems.
• Financial Data & API Integration: Developing and integrating APIs with third-party financial data providers.
• Database Expertise: Working with SQL & NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB).
• Cloud Automation & Performance Optimization: Ensuring financial applications are secure, scalable, and high-performing.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

• 3-5 years of Python development experience, ideally in financial services.
