Job summary

Austal Defence Australia (ADA) is seeking a Purchasing Officer to coordinate sourcing and purchasing, manage supplier relationships, issue purchase orders and support project procurement to keep materials delivered on time. You’ll collaborate with project teams and internal stakeholders to achieve quality, cost and schedule targets in a defence/shipbuilding context.

This role offers a chance to contribute to national significance within a leading Australian defence contractor, with opportunities

Qualifications

  • Experience in purchasing, procurement, administration or supply chain support.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Computer literacy and systems proficiency.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Eligibility for a Defence Security Clearance.
  • Exposure to manufacturing, engineering or project-based environments.
  • Experience using Pronto.
  • CIPS qualifications or working towards.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain supplier quotes, evaluate options and issue purchase orders

  • Resolve invoice queries and support continuous supply chain improvement

Job description

As the Purchasing Officer for Austal Defence Australia (ADA), you’ll be responsible for coordinating sourcing and purchasing activities, managing supplier relationships, issuing purchase orders and supporting project procurement requirements to ensure materials and services are delivered efficiently and on time. Working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers, you'll contribute to effective supply chain operations while maintaining strong service, quality and cost outcomes.

  • Certificate qualification in Purchasing, Supply Chain or related discipline
