Job summary

Talent International is recruiting a Social Media Specialist for Local Government based in Bankstown. This 12-month contract role pays $74.61 per hour + Super, with a 5-day working week and standard business hours.

The role involves developing a new organisation-wide social media strategy and managing the organisation’s channels. You will use analytics and stakeholder feedback to improve performance, governance, and accessibility for diverse communities.

Qualifications

• Experience in communications, public relations, stakeholder engagement, or related discipline.
• Experience developing or leading a social media strategy in a large organisation.
• Strong knowledge of social media platforms, audience behaviour, data analytics and digital engagement.
• Experience using data and insights to guide strategy and improve content performance.
• Experience developing governance frameworks, operating models and reporting processes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills; ability to translate requirements into practical recommendations.
• Strong project management skills; ability to coordinate stakeholders and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written communication; ability to prepare strategies, briefs, plans and executive recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an organisation-wide Social Media Strategy.
• Manage and optimise the organisation’s social media channels.
• Review existing channels, content practices, audience engagement and performance.
• Use analytics and insights to improve content and channel effectiveness.
• Develop governance frameworks, content standards, channel principles and reporting processes.
• Prepare implementation plans, guidelines and executive-ready recommendations.
• Engage stakeholders to gather insights and understand communication needs.
• Establish processes for content publishing, moderation, monitoring, escalation and risk management.
• Manage paid and organic social media activities.
• Identify and manage reputational, political and community-facing risks.
• Support accessible, inclusive and multicultural communications.
