Job summary

NSW Treasury is launching a Career Launch Program for Associate Economists, offering a 12-month rotational placement across areas in Economic Strategy and Productivity. The program includes formal training, mentor engagement, and opportunities to contribute to policy development and government decision-making.

Graduates will be exposed to a broad range of economics and public policy work and may move to ongoing teams in Treasury after completion.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in economics, public policy, or related field by January 2027.
• Available to commence employment on 1 February 2027.
• Australian or New Zealand citizen, or permanent resident of Australia.

Responsibilities

• Complete a 12-month program with placements across two areas in Economic Strategy and Productivity.
• Regular training in economics for public policy, problem solving, and career development.
• Engagement with mentors and opportunities to inform policy development and government decision-making.
