Job summary

ALS Energy in Mayfield NSW is hiring a Casual PTL Technician to support coal operations on a rotating roster (day, afternoon, night). The role involves handling coal samples, loading and unloading, preparing tests, and transferring results into the reporting system; full training is provided.

Applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have rights to work in Australia. A strong safety mindset, good numeracy and literacy, and the ability to work independently and with a team are essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner.

• Perform a range of physical tests including sample preparation, sizing, crushing, dividing and sample storage.
• Transfer validated results into the reporting system.
• Calibration and maintenance of specialised equipment.

The Position

ALS Coal currently has opportunities available for a Casual PTL Technician based at our site in Mayfield (Spit Island Cl) NSW.

The Position will require shift work (day, afternoon, night) on a rotating roster. Optional overtime is available through busy periods. If you have a drive to produce quality results and a strong team spirit, we would like to hear from you.

The position requirements include but are not limited to:

• Ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
• Handling coal samples and processing them according to instructions and current best methods.
• Loading and unloading coal samples from various plant streams.
• A range of physical tests including sample preparation, sizing, crushing, dividing and sample storage.
• Transfer validated results into the reporting system.
• Calibration and maintenance of specialised equipment.

Requirements:

• A valid driver's license
• Current rights to work in Australia (visa, permanent resident or citizen)
• A strong focus on safety, quality and teamwork
• Strong numeracy and literacy skills
• Ability to organise work, multi-task and meet tight deadlines
• Ability to work independently without supervision
• Comfortable with safe manual handling duties, including repetitive lifting
• Competent within a strong safety culture
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new systems
• Previous coal sampling experience would be an advantage but not essential
• Flexibility and able to perform shift work and weekend work as required

NOTE: Full training provided to the successful applicant

As part of the selection process, pre-employment medical exam is required, including drug and alcohol assessment
