Job summary

Queensland Health in Cairns seeks a psychologist for the North Community Care Team to deliver best-practice, evidence-based clinical services including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic intervention and evaluation for residents across regional, rural, and remote communities.

The role involves multidisciplinary work within MHAODS to support patient care, education of students, and collaboration with families and communities to promote recovery and access supports.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical education and supervision pertaining to routine tasks for students, those involved in observational placements and less experienced clinicians with the support of senior clinical staff.
• You may be required to work across other clinical teams within Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Services (MHAODS) to assist in meeting patient care needs, managing leave cover and supporting service delivery.
• Work with families and communities to promote recovery and community inclusion and to access generic supports, opportunities and resources.

Join the collaborative and forward-thinking North Community Care Team at CHHHS and play a key role in improving health outcomes across regional, rural, and remote communities. As the Psychologist you will be responsible for delivering best-practice evidence-based clinical services, including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic intervention and evaluation, to consumers of the Cairns and Hinterland HHS Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service.

The North Continuing Care Team provides specialist multidisciplinary assessment, treatment and care for patients who experience a wide range of severe and persistent psychosis, mood, anxiety, behaviour and eating disorders that significantly impact daily functioning and quality of life.
