Job description

The Team

Department of Health is seeking a psychologist to join the Family Violence Counselling and Support Services - Children and Young Persons' Program (CHYPP). Join a passionate, dynamic and supportive team in providing counselling and support to children, young people and their families who have experienced family violence.

Role Responsibilities
  • Assist children and young people to recover from the effect of family violence trauma through the delivery of developmentally appropriate specialist psychological services and therapeutic support.
  • Undertake appropriate forms of interventions within family violence, trauma and attachment frameworks in line with evidence-based practice and contemporary therapeutic models.
  • Undertake psychological assessments of children, young people and their families using standardised assessment methods.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions, case management services and, if necessary, referrals to appropriate agencies.
  • Contribute to and participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs, including group programs and sessions for clients of Children and Young Persons’ Program (CHYPP) and Family Violence Counselling and Support Service (FVCSS).
Location

Burnie, Devonport & Northwest Tasmania.

Appointment Details

Permanent, full time, day worker position working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Applicants should note that for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full‑time and part‑time vacancies.

Salary

Allied Health Professional Level 3: $110,425 to $119,290 per annum. Superannuation contribution of 12% on top of this amount. Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

Salary Packaging

You’ll have access to a salary package and a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010, $2,650 in meal entertainment per FBT year and other benefits if eligible.

Allowances

Professional Development Allowance up to $1,000 per annum. Access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.

Essential Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification or program of study approved by the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Area of Practice Endorsement where required (Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, Counselling Psychology, Community Psychology, Educational and Developmental Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Health Psychology, Organisational Psychology, or Sport and Exercise Psychology).
  • Current Working with Children Registration.
  • Current Driver’s Licence.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Area of practice endorsement in a relevant area where applicable.
