Job summary

NSW Health at Auburn Hospital seeks a Provisional Fellow in General Surgery to optimise day-to-day management of general surgical patients. The role supports Consultant Medical Officers, trainees and residents and assists in departmental administration and education programs.

The Fellow will bring fellowship in general surgery or be within 6 months of completion, hold medical board registration, and demonstrate strong clinical skills, leadership, and teamwork in a multidisciplinary setting.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent and registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in General Surgery or imminent fellowship within 6 months.
• Strong clinical knowledge in emergency and elective general surgery.
• Ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment with sound judgment.
• High level communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision of trainees and residents.

What you'll be doing

To optimise the day to day management of general surgical patients at Auburn Hospital. The Provisional Fellow will assist the Consultant Medical Officers to provide support and education to the trainees and resident staff and assist in the administration of the department.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia
• Fellowship of the Royal Australiasian College of Surgeons in General Surgery or expectation of receiving Fellowship within 6 months of appointment.
• Sound clinical knowledge in emergency and elective general surgery
• Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise
• High level communication skills
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary team
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision
