Job summary

Calleo is seeking a Project Support Officer – APS 6 to support the Online Safety in Southeast Asia and the Pacific initiative. The role involves engaging with governments, industry and international organisations to promote safer online environments.

You will work with the Assistant Manager, International Engagement to deliver project activities, including baseline research, monitoring and learning plans, and stakeholder workshops across Southeast Asia and the Pacific.

Responsibilities

• Conduct desktop baseline research on online safety landscape across Southeast Asia & Pacific (Fiji, Indonesia, Philippines, Samoa, Tonga, Viet Nam).
• Develop and implement monitoring, evaluation and learning plans/tools.
• Support project administration: tracking, risk/change management, progress reporting.
• Coordinate consultations and capacity-building workshops; handle logistics/materials prep.
• Prepare agendas, briefing notes and event materials for engagements (virtual/in-person).
• Co-design online safety awareness resources with international stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to deliver project outcomes.

Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to engage with governments, industry and international organisations across Southeast Asia and the Pacific and to contribute to initiatives that support a safer online environment.

As Project Officer, you will work closely with the Assistant Manager, International Engagement to support the delivery of the Online Safety in Southeast Asia and the Pacific project.

This role works with online safety regulators and organisations around the world to help meet our client’s mission to protect Australians from online harms and promote safer, more positive online experiences. Through these interactions, you will aim to enhance the client’s approach to online safety regulation in Australia, amplify impact across borders and help create a safer and more responsible digital environment worldwide.

Key position responsibilities

• Conduct desktop research and develop a baseline study on the online safety landscape across Southeast Asia and the Pacific, focusing on Fiji, Indonesia, the Philippines, Samoa, Tonga and Viet Nam.
• Develop and implement monitoring, evaluation and learning plans and tools.
• Support project administration, including activity tracking, risk and change management, and progress reporting.
• Coordinate consultations and capacity-building workshops, including logistics and preparation of materials.
• Prepare agendas, briefing notes, talking points and event materials for virtual and in-person engagements.
• Co-design and adapt online safety awareness and education resources with international stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support project delivery and achieve project outcomes.

Skills & Experience

• Strong project management and organisational skills, including experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise information, identify key insights and trends, and develop practical recommendations.
• Experience working with diverse communities to co-design and deliver resources and workshops that are accessible, culturally appropriate and responsive to local needs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative, proactive and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. international development, international relations or social sciences), or equivalent relevant experience.

Highly regarded

• Demonstrated cultural competency and experience engaging with stakeholders across the Asia-Pacific region.
• Knowledge of online safety issues, including technology-facilitated violence against women and children.
• Current Working with Children Check.
• Understanding of Commonwealth policies and procedures.

Travel

This role requires the ability to undertake international travel. The successful candidate may be required to travel to countries across Southeast Asia and the Pacific on approximately two occasions during 2027. Travel assignments are typically 3-5 days in duration.

Due to the nature of this role, this job is open to Australian Citizens only. The successful person will be required to hold and maintain minimum Baseline Security Clearance.
