Powercor is recruiting a Project Manager - Major Projects to deliver complex infrastructure across Victoria’s network. You will lead projects from planning through close-out, coordinating internal teams, contractors and consultants to ensure safety, time, and budget targets are met.

The role offers exposure to large-scale infrastructure with senior stakeholders and a supportive, high-performing environment. Hybrid work options are available; a CPPM accreditation is preferred.

Competenze

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering or related discipline.
• Detailed knowledge of project management concepts and principles.
• Experience in people management.
• Knowledge of electricity distribution and related standards.
• CPPM accreditation or ability to achieve it.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience applying PM principles in electrical distribution.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Project Manager - Major Projects. Reporting to the Manager Urban Major Projects, you will play a critical role in delivering complex and high-value infrastructure projects that support the continued growth, reliability, and performance of our network. You will be responsible for leading projects from planning and development through to execution and close-out, ensuring outcomes are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with business and regulatory requirements.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and external partners, you will provide strong leadership throughout the project lifecycle, proactively managing risks, budgets, schedules, and stakeholder expectations to achieve successful project outcomes.

This role presents an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Manager looking to broaden their exposure to major infrastructure projects, as well as senior project delivery professionals seeking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and high-performing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Management and Leadership of major projects to achieve on time, budget, quality, OH&S, environmental standards and ensuring customer and related financial and governance requirements.
• Management and Leadership of the delivery of major projects and services including managing internal and sub-contract resources.
• Preparation, evaluation and issue of tenders for construction, major plant and/or materials.
• Management of the relationship with the Customer and Electricity Network Groups to ensure all stakeholder requirements are met.
• Assist in the preparation and review of conceptual and final project scopes associated with major projects.
• Develop and improve project management systems and implement in all business operations by capturing learnings and identifying opportunities.
• Ensure that all work activities are undertaken in accordance with Regulatory policies, work practices, processes and standards.
• Ensure all contractors and contractor activities comply with legislative, regulatory and contractual obligations.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

• A Tertiary Qualification in an Engineering or associated area/discipline
• The role requires a detailed knowledge of the concepts and principles of project management.
• Detailed knowledge and experience in the concepts and principles of people management.
• Detailed knowledge of the electricity distribution, sub-transmission, transmission and/or infrastructure industry with a working knowledge of Powercor/CitiPower technical standards, construction practices and estimating work methodologies.
• Has obtained or has the ability to achieve Accreditation as a CPPM with the Australian Institute of Project Management: and/or
• At least 5 years’ experience working with Project Management principles and Project Delivery Methodology in the electrical distribution and sub-transmission areas
