Job summary

Southern Adelaide Local Health Network in Melbourne, VIC, is seeking a Project Manager to lead large-scale, service-wide projects that support strategic priorities and improve patient care.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will oversee project planning, budgets, stakeholder engagement and delivery, mentor junior staff, and contribute to organisational initiatives. The role requires strong governance, risk management and change management in a complex healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Experience managing complex projects from initiation to completion in healthcare or public sector environments.
• Strong strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to manage competing priorities.

• Developing detailed project plans, manage budgets, monitor risks and performance, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.
• Build strong stakeholder partnerships and lead change management initiatives, collaborating with consumers, clinicians, executives and external partners.
• Drive project success through benefits realisation, continuous improvement and a collaborative team culture, while mentoring and supporting the development of project staff.

Join our team as a Project Manager and lead large-scale, service-wide projects that support strategic priorities and drive meaningful outcomes. Working within the Project Management Office (PMO), you’ll oversee project planning, budgets, stakeholder engagement and delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. You’ll also have the opportunity to guide and mentor junior project staff while contributing to key organisational initiatives.

About the role:

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, this role is integral to driving strategic initiatives across SALHN, leading the delivery of large-scale, service-wide projects that improve organisational performance and support high-quality, safe patient care. The role focuses on effective project planning, stakeholder engagement, risk management and change delivery to achieve meaningful outcomes. Duties for the role will include:

• Leading the planning, delivery and evaluation of large-scale, service-wide projects that support SALHN’s strategic priorities and improve organisational outcomes.
• Developing detailed project plans, manage budgets, monitor risks and performance, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.
• Build strong stakeholder partnerships and lead change management initiatives, collaborating with consumers, clinicians, executives and external partners.
• Drive project success through benefits realisation, continuous improvement and a collaborative team culture, while mentoring and supporting the development of project staff.

About you:

• Proven experience managing complex projects from initiation to completion, applying project management methodologies to deliver outcomes on time and within budget.
• Strong strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, navigate change and work effectively under pressure.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
• Sound knowledge of project and change management principles, governance, risk management and quality improvement, ideally within a complex healthcare environment.
