Job summary

NHOA Energy is seeking a Project Engineer to join the Engineering department in Perth and contribute to Battery Energy Storage System projects in Australia. You will manage engineering design activities, acting as the primary technical contact for owners and partners.

You will oversee all engineering deliverables, procurement alignment, documentation, and commissioning support, partnering with international teams to ensure compliance and successful project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering or similar.
• 5–10 years’ experience in design and/or commissioning of power plants or substations.
• Experience with MW-sized power plants on-field activities.
• Knowledge of Australian electrical design codes and standards.
• Experience with Australian Energy Market Operator and/or Network Service Providers.

Responsibilities

• Overall management of engineering activities for BESS project delivery.
• Management of engineering schedule and deliverables.
• Ensure fit-for-purpose procurement of project equipment; manage documentation.
• Support commissioning activities and training for BESS and PPC.
• Maintain warranties/guarantees and liaise with partners and owners.

Job description

NHOA Energy is recruiting a Project Engineer to join NHOA’s Engineering department at our Perth office and contribute on the delivery of Battery Energy Storage System projects in Australia.

The Project Engineer is responsible for managing engineering and design activities for the delivery of turn-key Battery Energy Storage Systems and acts as the primary technical point of contact for project owner’s and partners’ technical teams.

Tasks and Duties

General Responsibilities

• Overall management of engineering activities for the BESS project delivery
• Manage positive relationships with project owner, project partner(s), NHOA project team, and other project local stakeholders (e: AEMO, NSP)
• Strong engagement with NHOA Head of Project Engineering in Italy and Italy-based Engineering Manager, ensuring alignment on activities, processes, technical approach and other head office requirements

Project Responsibilities (SOW)

• Management and submission of all engineering related contract deliverables
• Ensure fit-for-purpose procurement of all project battery storage equipment
• Management of engineering and related documentation, support partner as required, including:
• Engineering management of BESS and Power Plant Controller
• Reports and analysis
• Electrical engineering and automation
• Documentation including approvals and operation manuals
• Management of battery control system installation, and support of project partner for relevant civil installation works and electrical works and installation
• Support Commissioning Manager and project partner in all relevant commissioning activities
• Delivery training requirements for BESS and PPC
• Ensure all warranties and guarantees are appropriate and achieved

Project Responsibilities (Management)

• Management of all engineering deliverables
• Management of engineering schedule, ensuring it accurately reflects engineering activities
• Manage all internal and external reporting requirements for engineering activities

Ideal Candidate

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering or similar
• 5-10 years’ experience in design and/or commissioning of power plants / substations
• Experience in on-field activities on MW-sized power plants
• Experience in Australian electrical design codes, including relevant standards and regulations
• Knowledge of the National Electricity Rules and the Generator Performance Standards
• Experience with Australian Energy Market Operator and/or Network Service Providers
• Interpersonal and communication skills toward both internal and external stakeholders
• Open-minded approach, capability to work in an international and multi-cultural team; Troubleshooting aptitude, problem solving orientation, quick adaptation to changes; Ability to effectively prioritize and plan tasks

Location: Perth CBD and remote (from Perth area)

Travel up to 50% of the time, as required by project and client needs.
