Job summary

Transport for NSW is seeking a motivated civil engineering professional to lead end-to-end delivery of road, infrastructure, construction or maintenance projects from planning to delivery. The role requires coordinating with field teams, contractors and service providers to ensure safe, practical and cost-efficient outcomes for communities.

  • Four-year Civil Engineering degree or equivalent recognised overseas qualification.
  • Knowledge of road and traffic infrastructure materials, equipment, construction methods, and maintenance practices.
  • Experience working with or managing direct‑control workforces in the delivery of construction and maintenance activities.
  • Understanding of tendering, contract administration, procurement processes, and contractor management.
  • Sound understanding of work health and safety, environmental, quality and traffic management requirements applicable to road construction and maintenance.
  • Current Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel and work outside normal hours when required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end delivery of road and civil infrastructure projects, including maintenance, direct-control, and contract works, ensuring safety, timeliness, and budget compliance.
  • Develop and manage project plans, budgets, schedules, and technical documentation (briefs, estimates, specs, contracts).
  • Coordinate and oversee delivery teams, contractors, consultants, and service providers for high quality outcomes across the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project performance, risks, resources, finances, and compliance with safety, environment, and quality standards.
  • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships and contribute to road safety, asset management, and customer-focused culture.

In this role, you’ll:

Play a key role in developing and delivering road and traffic infrastructure and maintenance projects that improve network performance, safety, and community outcomes.

Working across a portfolio of projects, you will coordinate planning, investigation, design, procurement, and delivery activities, ensuring works are delivered safely and efficiently and meet agreed cost, quality, scope, and timeframe requirements.

More specifically, you will:
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of road and civil infrastructure projects, including maintenance, direct-control, and contract works, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Develop and manage project plans, budgets, schedules, and technical documentation, including project briefs, cost estimates, specifications, and contract documentation.
  • Coordinate and oversee project delivery teams, contractors, consultants, and service providers, ensuring effective collaboration and high-quality outcomes throughout the project life cycle.
  • Monitor project performance, risks, resources, financials, and compliance requirements, maintaining strong standards of safety, environmental management, and quality assurance.
  • Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships, providing technical advice and contributing to road safety, asset management, network efficiency, and a customer‑focused team culture.

Office location: Hay, NSW, requirement to live within a reasonable distance of Hay. Relocation expenses and assistance may be considered.

To succeed in this role, you will have:
