Job summary

Gough Recruitment is seeking Mechanical or Electrical Project Engineers for a Melbourne-based consultancy. The role targets candidates with a minimum of 2 years' experience and exposure to technically complex projects, especially in data centres, pharma, or healthcare facilities.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, review drawings, and coordinate design activities through the project lifecycle to meet client requirements and standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
• Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Data centre project experience is highly desirable.
• Experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare projects will be considered.
• Strong technical understanding of building services and related systems.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive with the ability to manage competing priorities across complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Support the design, engineering coordination and delivery of Mechanical or Electrical packages across major projects.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, consultants, clients and contractors.
• Review technical drawings, specifications and engineering documentation.
• Coordinate design activities and resolve technical challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist with project planning, programme management, technical reporting and stakeholder coordination.
• Ensure engineering solutions meet project specifications, relevant standards and client requirements.
• Support procurement, construction coordination, commissioning and handover activities where applicable.

About the Role

We are seeking Project Engineers from either Mechanical or Electrical backgrounds, with a minimum of 2 years' experience and exposure to the design or delivery of technically complex projects.
Ideally, candidates will have experience within the data centre sector, although those with relevant experience across pharmaceutical facilities or complex healthcare developments will also be considered.

Key responsibilities include:

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years' experience in Mechanical or Electrical engineering, ideally within a consultancy or complex project delivery environment.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in the design or delivery of data centre projects is highly desirable.
• Experience across pharmaceutical or complex healthcare projects will also be considered.
• Strong technical understanding of Mechanical or Electrical building services and associated engineering systems.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external stakeholders.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Strong communication, coordination and problem‑solving skills.
• A proactive approach with the ability to manage competing priorities across complex projects.
