Job description

Reporting to the PMO Lead, the Project Development Manager, will be responsible for the coordination of required teams for the progress of the Project, as well as coordination of the other Development team members. The Project Development Manager role is to plan, coordinate, and ensure that development works are carried out on time and in compliance with current regulations. Responsible for ensuring the Project is delivered to specification, program, within contract price and in accordance with Iberdrola and client financial authorization procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Effectively plan and monitor project development and the distribution of tasks within the team.
  • Actively engage in the procurement processes for preparation of documentation, evaluation, placement and management.
  • Conduct progress, co‑ordination and interface meetings with the team, client and contractors.
  • Ensure all phases of the Project are carried out efficiently and within the established timeline.
  • Support the administration of contracts with suppliers to ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
  • Support the administration of contractors' work and schedules, ensuring deadlines and objectives are met.
  • Support the management and control of the project delivery plan, schedule, work breakdown structure tasks and resource requirements against the Project timeline.
  • To coordinate engineering requirements for the project and ongoing change management.
  • Work out the impact on the Project schedule if there are delays in supply chain or contracted works, communicating it to the different impacted stakeholders and reassessing the strategy.
  • Report to internal management on the progress of the development activities of the Project.
  • Consult and inform key internal and external stakeholders on project updates.
  • Responsible for presentation of all milestones required documentation to key account team for submission to client.
  • Oversee collaboration with third‑party stakeholders to secure land permits and other necessary approvals, including coordinating with DNSPs (Distribution Network Service Providers) and TNSPs (Transmission Network Service Providers). 
  • Support the management and control of construction schedules, resources, and logistics, ensuring safety measures are in place. Coordinate with local governments, utility companies, and landowners, and work to maintain community acceptance of the project.
  • Support the management and control of environmental assessment, and planning approval.
  • Ensure effective communication between the transmission lines engineering team and substations to guarantee seamless integration.
  • Support meetings with planning and other regulatory bodies to obtain and maintain support for the Project.
  • Closely follow market policy developments, consultations, and regulations, assessing impacts on projects.
Required qualifications
  • Relevant bachelor’s degree or Master of Engineering.
Languages

  • At least 10 years of experience as a Project Development Manager/ Project Manager in transmission or renewable energy projects.
  • Experience in managing teams and coordinating multidisciplinary activities.
  • Experience in development for relevant Transmission Network Infrastructure Projects.
  • Background in electrical engineering, with the ability to understand various design phases and high‑level technical information.
  • Experience with registration process of renewable energy connections to the NEM highly valued.
  • Experience in coordinating with various stakeholders to secure necessary approvals and permits.
  • Management of installation of new technologies such as large utility battery systems and Synchronous Condensers is highly valued.
  • Understanding of the regulatory framework for NEM and AEMO registration processes.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills with focus on stakeholder management, by creating and maintain fruitful relationships.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and efficiency.
  • Strong analytical skills, quality outputs and detail focus.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment, managing and interfacing effectively with cross‑functional internal groups of all level and competencies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety and environment legislation associated with Networks construction projects.
  • Knowledge of Project Management, the Australian Networks and Energy Landscapes, Networks infrastructure construction environment, and Governments’ regulatory frameworks.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Experience with MS Project or similar planning software is highly desirable.
