We are strengthening our commercial and project controls capability to support high-performing project delivery across our portfolio.

About Us

Multiplant is expanding rapidly in the Civil & Construction, Bulk & Detailed Earthworks, Dewatering and Maintenance sectors, enhancing our commercial and project controls expertise to drive efficient and profitable project delivery.

About the Role

This commercially focused project controls position is responsible for coordinating cost, schedule, risk and performance reporting across designated projects.

Operating independently, you will protect project margins, improve forecast accuracy and drive performance accountability.

Your role is central to ensuring project data is accurate, integrated and aligned with business and client expectations, working closely with Project Managers, Commercial and Finance teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate cost, schedule, risk and performance data across multiple live projects.
  • Develop and maintain consolidated project reports including progress, earned value, cost forecasts, cashflow and variance analysis.
  • Maintain and validate budgets, ETC / EAC forecasts, cost structures and change control registers.
  • Lead monthly project review cycles, preparing performance packs and presenting key commercial risks and corrective actions.
  • Integrate P6 schedules with cost and risk frameworks, resolving data inconsistencies and gaps.
  • Prepare advanced dashboards using Power BI, Excel and ERP reporting tools.
  • Identify and actively manage commercial risks, cost leakage and margin erosion trends.
  • Liaise with Finance, Project Managers, Engineers, Commercial and Scheduling teams to align cost and delivery reporting.
  • Validate contract variations, milestone claims and subcontract performance indicators.
  • Provide mentoring to junior project controllers and contribute to data governance and reporting standards.
Commercial & Financial Acumen

Strong understanding of project financial management, including revenue recognition, cost-to-complete (CTC / ETC), estimate at completion (EAC) and gross margin forecasting.

Proven capability in budget ownership, forecasting discipline and cashflow management across multi-million-dollar projects.

Experience in identifying and managing commercial risk, cost leakage and margin erosion.

Ability to analyse and explain commercial drivers behind project performance, not just report on metrics.

Contract & Change Management

Working knowledge of contract frameworks and commercial principles within construction and infrastructure projects.

Experience managing and validating variations, extensions of time, claims and change events from a commercial and financial lens.

Ability to support dispute avoidance through early identification of commercial and contractual risk.

Cost Control & Performance Management

Advanced experience in cost control systems, cost structures (CBS / WBS) and earned value management.

Strong experience in productivity tracking, unit rate analysis and performance trending.

Demonstrated ability to drive forecast integrity and governance, ensuring consistency between cost, schedule and risk.

Key Requirements

Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.

3–7 years' experience in project controls, project commercial or cost management roles, ideally within civil construction, mining or infrastructure.

Demonstrated experience managing project financials, forecasting cycles and commercial reporting on complex projects.

Strong understanding of EAC / ETC forecasting, revenue recognition, earned value management and contract variations.

Confidence engaging and influencing Project Managers, Commercial Managers and senior stakeholders.

High attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.

Systems & Tools
  • Advanced capability in Microsoft Excel (including complex formulas, pivots and data modelling).
  • Experience with Power BI or similar reporting platforms.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., Pronto, SAP, J-M, Oracle).
  • Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software experience preferred.
Why Join Multiplant?
  • Competitive remuneration package.
  • Weekly pay cycle.
  • Career progression and structured development pathways.
  • Exposure to major civil and infrastructure projects.
  • Safe, supportive and values-driven team culture.
  • Discounted private health insurance.

Brand new Perth office featuring end‑of‑trip facilities, breakout spaces, balcony access, quiet zones for focused work, walking distance to Kings Park and direct freeway access North and South.
