As the Program Manager in the Tourism Division in DETSI you will play a lead role in the delivery of initiatives related to disaster recovery and resilience including the implementation of disaster recovery programs, reporting, procurement, budget and issues management. The role also requires solid skills in regard to stakeholder engagement with the disaster recovery and resilience programs working closely with leading tourism industry stakeholders.

As The Program Manager, You Will
  • Lead and manage the implementation of disaster recovery and resilience programs including reporting, procurement, budget and issues management.
  • Lead or coordinate the implementation of targeted initiatives to assist the tourism industry to be more resilient to natural disasters or to recover from natural disasters including the development of submissions for support under Disaster Recovery Funding arrangements.
  • Develop, monitor and review disaster recovery and resilience programs to ensure they meet the requirements of disaster recovery funding arrangements.
  • Liaise, negotiate and develop effective networks with senior internal and external stakeholders including government agencies, industry, business associations, peak bodies and other key stakeholders to ensure that the disaster recovery approach is contemporary and informed by relevant data.
  • Build and foster proactive, enduring and productive relationships with tourism stakeholders including Regional Tourism Organisations and key organisations in the tourism Network including Queensland Tourism Industry Council and Tourism and Events Queensland.
  • Collaborate with Regional Tourism Organisations and tourism stakeholders to develop and implement disaster recovery and resilience programs.
  • Prepare or contribute to the preparation of timely and well-researched presentations, communication materials, briefs and submissions on complex issues, including Cabinet Submissions.
  • Support senior officers with preparation for inter-departmental meetings and represent DETSI at meetings and local events as required.
  • Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.
  • Promote a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace that is free from bullying, discrimination and harassment.
  • Other duties as directed and required.
