Bechtel is providing a wide variety project and contract management services, crossing all disciplines, to customers in Western Australia to support exciting capital works programmes, including in aviation, defence and energy infrastructure. We are looking for people to join us in a long-term relationship to deliver these services in and around Perth where we are working within integrated teams with our customers and to help build Bechtel’s capabilities for even greater opportunities in the future.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will report to the Program Construction Manager, and you will provide oversight of all field engineering activities in the program, which comprises multiple projects and associated systems technologies.

You will provide assurance that field engineering activities are undertaken safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and the capital portfolio management team’s performance expectations.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the review of contractor quantity take-offs, reporting and forecasting.
  • >Coordinate the reviews of contractor submittals, including reports of contractor progress and performance.
  • Actively interface with engineering, health and safety, environment and sustainability, community, workplace relations, contract management and other relevant teams to so that project delivery priorities are maintained.
  • Implement assurance program to monitor that the work by contractors is undertaken in a manner that addresses and eliminates people and environmental hazards, and that risk analysis, health risk assessments, and work method statements, where required, are in place.
  • Manage the review of all contractor submittals including construction schedules, management plans, progress reports, and changes as required.
  • Establish a design/field engineering working relationship and lines of communication with project engineering including agreement on engineering deliverables.
  • Provide technical consultation support to internal stakeholders. Support the engineering team with review of contractor's design for constructability and compliance with the contract. Identifies areas of risk and opportunity in contractor performance.
  • Ensure that the work by contractors is undertaken in a manner that addresses and eliminates personnel and environmental hazards, and ensure that risk analysis, health risk assessments, and work method statements, where required, are in place.
  • Ensures the contractor’s field engineering program tools and deliverables meet contract requirements, and are consistent across assigned area.
  • Provides technical and program guidance and direction to Program teams for submittal and review process of contractor documentation, including inspection and test plans, and procedures and test reports for factory acceptance testing, component testing and system acceptance testing
  • Identification and resolution of program-wide technical or process issues related to field engineering.
  • Ensure the contractor is executing the contract in line with the terms & conditions set out.
Education and Experience Requirements:

Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Demonstrated experience in the successful management of major projects in the infrastructure and/or aviation industry.
  • Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved and current knowledge of new methods of design and construction.
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrable delivery of leadership and behavioural change within a large organisation and with outside organizations.
  • Ability to influence and engage in a collaborative working environment with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining necessary levels of commercial awareness.
  • Prior delivery partner or client-side project management experience is preferred but not essential.
