Job summary

ASSA ABLOY is seeking a Sheet Metal Worker / Welder for its Austral Monsoon team in Carole Park, QLD. You will fabricate timber and metal doors and louvers for commercial and residential projects, using MIG and TIG welding on light gauge steel. Reading drawings and maintaining quality are essential.

This full-time, day-shift role offers training and growth within a global leader in access solutions, with overtime opportunities and a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Sheet metal or equivalent work experience.
• Welding experience required (MIG/TIG).
• Ability to read measurement tools and specifications.
• Maintain production quality and meet tolerances.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble and weld metal components per drawings.
• Perform MIG and TIG welding on light gauge steel.
• Grind and finish welds; inspect for quality and structural integrity.
• Read workshop drawings and fabricate profiles with bending/cutting machines.
• Identify material types and thicknesses; conduct quality checks.
• Complete required paperwork and maintain clean, safe work area.

We’re looking for a Sheet Metal Worker / Welder to join our Austral Monsoon team in Carole Park, QLD. Whether you’ve worked as a factory hand, machine operator, production operator, or you’re looking for a fresh start, we’ll provide training and support to help you succeed.

What You’ll Do

You’ll help manufacture high-quality timber and metal doors and Louvers for commercial and residential projects.

Key Accountabilities / Primary Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble and weld thin gauge metal components to various specifications as required from relevant detailed drawings.


• MIG and TIG light gauge steel 1.1mm to 3mm – Zincaneal, Galvabond, Mild Steel and Stainless Steel.


• Grind and clean all steel, polish stainless Steel.


• Inspect completed welds for quality and accuracy, ensuring they meet required standards and structural integrity.


• Adjust components where necessary using a grinder or other cutting tools.


• Fit components using jigs.


• General jobbing work fitting special hardware.


• Read and understand workshop drawings.


• Fabrication of profile lengths using bending and cutting machinery.


• Identify different material types and thicknesses.


• Conduct quality control checks on own work.


• Complete required paperwork.

What We’re Looking For

• Sheet Metal or equivalent work experience.


• Welding Experience.


• Work within tolerance; ensure quality in the product.


• Maintaining production levels as required.


• Sound written and verbal communication skills.


• Comply with standards and procedures of Spence Doors following WHS guidelines and wear personal protective equipment.


• Ability and willingness to follow direction as well as the ability to work independently.


• Must be able to read a tape measure, pressure gauge, level and square.


• Complete assigned work within given timeframe and according to specification.


• Must be able to operate sheet metal machinery and welding equipment.
