Job summary

Simplot Kelso is seeking casual Production Operators to join our seafood and snacking processing plant, producing about 50 tonnes daily for retail and foodservice markets. Roles cover day, afternoon and night shifts on a Mon-Sat roster with Sun OT as required.

Base hourly rate 43.26 AUD (incl. 25% casual loading) plus 15% afternoon and 30% night shift allowances; Sat/Sun OT paid at double time. Join a team of ~120 local staff committed to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Commitment to safety, health and wellbeing in the workplace.
• Experience in manufacturing, process, or mechanical roles preferred.
• Hold a current LF forklift licence (advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Inspect and prepare incoming raw materials.
• Manually handle ingredients for production.
• Operate fixed plant processing and high-speed packaging equipment safely.
• Clean and sanitise production lines.
• Complete daily shift logs and paperwork.
• Participate in CI activities and GMP compliance.
• Support site safety initiatives.

About Our Role

• Casual production based opportunities with the home of Australia's favourite foods - Simplot Kelso

• Shift based positions - work across day / afternoon / night shifts on a Mon-Sat roster (with occasional Sun OT as required)

• Base hourly rate $43.26 (incl. 25% casual loading) + 15% afternoon shift allowance + 30% night shift allowance

Here at Simplot Kelso, we have opportunities for casual Production Operators to join the production team in support our food manufacturing operations. Simplot Kelso is our seafood and snacking processing plant, producing approx. 50 tonnes of product daily (75 SKUs) for the retail and foodservice markets including Birds Eye, I&J and Captain's Catch branded products. The site employs approx. 120 local employees, with approximately 95% of manufactured goods consisting of either Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) or Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) seafood.

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Production Manager - in these active, hands on manufacturing roles - after successful completion of on-the-job training, duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Inspection / preparation of incoming raw material

• Manual handling of ingredients used in the production process

• Safe operations of fixed plant processing & high speed packaging equipment

• Cleaning and sanitation of production lines

• Accurately complete daily shift logs / associated paperwork

• Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) activities

• Contribute to site safety & Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) activities

• LF forklift operations - for those candidates who currently hold a valid forklift licence with demonstrated experience

About You

• Possess a 100% commitment to safety, health & wellbeing in the workplace

• Demonstrated experience within a manufacturing, process or mechanical related role will be highly regarded

• A current LF forklift licence and demonstrated operating experience (advantageous)

• Hold a problem solving mindset

• Ability to commit to 8 hour shifts across a Mon-Fri roster (incl. of day/night/afternoon shifts) with Saturday OT (as required)

• Possess a high level of both written and verbal communication skills, in addition to time management skills and the ability to work to production schedules

• Ability to work proactively whilst unsupervised whilst also being able to work within a team environment

• Possess positive communication skills

• Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening)
