Job description
Senior Procurement Business Partner

Provide senior procurement support to the Capital Projects Team across the UK. Working closely with capital project leadership, you will identify and implement opportunities to enhance efficiency, value for money, quality, and compliance. You will help ensure high performance standards and the consistent application of appropriate procurement processes across all project works.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strengthen compliance with preferred supplier agreements, ensuring all suppliers meet minimum assurance requirements and contractual terms.
  • Lead supplier management activity (SRM), ensuring effective oversight of the supply base and appropriate contractual flowdowns for critical suppliers.
  • Identify, deliver, and report cost‑saving and value‑enhancing initiatives through the central Supply Chain & Procurement (SC&P) function.
  • Act as a core member of both the Capital Projects Team and the UK Supply Chain & Procurement Function.
  • Identify opportunities across the client account to improve efficiency, quality, innovation, and customer service, collaborating with project and account teams to implement improvements.
  • Work closely with the Capital Projects team to ensure value for money on all project‑related procurements.
  • Support the selection of suitably skilled Tier 2 and Tier 3 supply chain partners for project delivery.
  • Manage competitive tendering processes using the Scanmarket platform.
  • Coordinate a supplier rotation process to balance supplier workloads and protect delivery performance.
  • Lead the mobilisation of new suppliers, ensuring all compliance, assurance, and contractual requirements are met and aligned to client expectations.
  • Continuously develop, benchmark, and improve procurement practices within the client account.
  • Serve as the link between the account team and Procurement to ensure strategies and objectives remain aligned.
  • Ensure all supplier assurance requirements and contractual governance processes are maintained.
  • Support the rebate management programme to maximise benefit.
  • Drive strong contract management and risk mitigation to minimise operational and financial exposure, working closely with Commercial Legal and QS Project teams.
  • Improve buying efficiency and compliance by ensuring a minimum of 80% of spend aligns with the preferred supplier list (PSL).
  • Further develop the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) programme in collaboration with central category teams, fostering a strong environment for supplier partnerships and innovation.
  • Apply best‑in‑class strategic procurement tools and methodologies for market testing.
  • Act as the primary procurement point of contact for the contract, ensuring alignment and seamless collaboration between functions.
  • Represent the central SC&P function in engagements with internal and external customers and manage key supplier relationships.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • 5+ years extensive and proven procurement experience within a construction environment
  • Experience supporting capital project works, with strong technical understanding of construction methods, technologies, and standard measurement forms
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyse project programmes; construction industry experience preferred
  • Degree‑level education preferred
  • Professional certification (CIPS and/or MBA) highly desirable
  • BPSS Security Clearance required for successful candidate
  • Strong attention to detail with sound commercial awareness (QS/Legal experience beneficial)
  • Strong business acumen with deep understanding of P2P models and sourcing methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage diverse stakeholders at multiple levels through presentations, meetings, and written communication
  • Demonstrable change management capability with proven results
  • Supplier Relationship Management experience essential
  • Knowledge of the public sector is an advantage
  • Willingness to travel as required
