Job description

Process Production Engineer Hands On Fmcg Manufacturing Role

Process / Production Engineer | Hands-On FMCG Manufacturing Role

Process / Production Engineer – Hands-On FMCG Manufacturing RoleMelbourne | Permanent Opportunity | Be Part of a High-Performing Manufacturing Team | 6 month contract

Some engineers love designing processes on paper.

The great ones love seeing those improvements come to life on the factory floor.

If you’re a Process or Production Engineer who enjoys being close to the equipment, solving real manufacturing challenges, improving production performance and working alongside operators and maintenance teams, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

Good People HR is partnering with an innovative Food & Pharmaceutical FMCG manufacturer in Melbourne to find a hands‑on engineer who can make a genuine impact across production operations.

This is not a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk all day. We’re looking for an engineer who enjoys being involved; walking the floor, understanding the equipment, troubleshooting issues, improving processes, installation work and delivering practical solutions.

About the Role

Reporting into the manufacturing team, you will play a key role in improving production efficiency, supporting equipment performance and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

You’ll be involved in:
  • Optimising manufacturing processes and production performance
  • Supporting and improving filling line operations
  • Troubleshooting production equipment and process issues
  • Leading equipment installation, commissioning and improvement projects
  • Working closely with production, maintenance and engineering teams
  • Identifying opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency and reliability
  • Supporting new equipment implementation from installation through to operation
What We’re Looking For

You’re a hands on, practical, curious and solutions-focused engineer who enjoys being where the action happens and likes being on the tools.

To be successful, you will have:
  • A degree qualification in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering
  • 3–5 years’ experience within manufacturing, FMCG (food or pharmaceuticals) or a high-volume production environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with production equipment and machinery
  • Proven experience working with filling lines (essential)
  • Experience with equipment installation, commissioning and implementation (must have)
  • The ability to troubleshoot issues and work through problems on the factory floor
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on practical outcomes
  • Strong communication skills, friendly demeanour and the confidence to work with operators, maintenance and production teams
Why This Opportunity?

The best engineering roles are the ones where you can see your impact.

Where an improvement you make today changes how a line runs tomorrow.

Where your ideas are valued, your technical skills are respected and you’re surrounded by people who care about doing things better.

This is an opportunity to join a business where your engineering capability will genuinely make a difference.

About You

You’re the go to person.

You might be the person everyone relies on when a line stops, a process needs improving or a piece of equipment needs attention.

You’re the engineer who gets involved, asks questions, finds solutions and takes pride in making things work better.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to have a confidential conversation.

IMPORTANT: It is a requirement of all our jobs that you have a PR or AU/NZ Citizenship. A work visa is not sufficient as all our jobs are permanent. Please do not apply if you do not meet these requirements.
