Job summary

Tianqi Lithium Energy Australia is seeking a Process Control Engineer for the Kwinana plant on a full‑time, two‑year max-term contract.

The role focuses on designing and implementing modifications to the Process Control System to support brownfield projects and improve refinery performance. Strong problem‑solving skills and experience with Rockwell PLC/SCADA are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a tertiary engineering degree and professional experience in process control systems.
• Experience in chemical or mineral processing environments is desirable.
• Strong understanding of distributed control system architecture and control philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Develop functional specifications with stakeholders.
• Program and commission control systems per specifications.
• Design engineering solutions for the control system.
• Follow Management of Change processes.
• Identify risks with enterprise frameworks and implement mitigation.
• Test, maintain and modify existing process control systems.
• Optimize control strategies to reduce delays and lifecycle costs.

About The Position

TLEA is welcoming applications for a full‑time two‑year Max term Process Control Engineer to join our team working at our Kwinana plant.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the design and implementation of modifications to the Process Control System (PCS) at the Tianqi Lithium Kwinana (TLK) Lithium Hydroxide Refinery. This role is critical in supporting the delivery of a portfolio of brownfield projects aimed at enhancing and debottlenecking refinery operations.

In addition to possessing our core values of distinction, pragmatism, honesty, tenacity and innovation, this position will suit an individual with prior experience of Process Control Engineering within Brownfields Environments and Operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Working with stakeholders to develop the functional specifications.
• Programming and commissioning of the control system according to the functional specifications.
• Design engineering solutions for the control system.
• Follow Management of Change processes.
• Identify and assess risks using enterprise risk framework policies and procedures, develop and implement risk mitigation plans
• Testing, maintaining and modifying existing process control systems
• Optimising strategies to prevent operational & production delays and minimise lifecycle costs for instrumentation and control infrastructure
• Assist in fault finding and failure investigations, and the subsequent rectification works.

What You Can Bring

• Tertiary Engineering degree with professional experience in process control systems.
• Previous experience in chemical or mineral processing industry.
• Good understanding of distributed control system and control system architecture.
• Extensive experience with Rockwell PLC & SCADA programming (Siemens highly regarded).
• Demonstrated ability to understand control philosophy and configure control system as per the functional requirements.
• Configuration and commissioning of DOL and Variable Speed Drives.
• Excellent problem solving and fault-finding skills.
