Job summary

Commonwealth Bank seeks a Principal Software Engineer in Security Engineering & AI Automation to lead technical strategy across multiple squads and shape scalable cloud-native solutions. You will stay hands-on while guiding architecture, APIs, automation, and AI-driven capabilities across Group Security.

You will influence enterprise-wide engineering standards, drive CI/CD improvements, and mentor engineers to elevate security engineering capabilities across the bank.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading technical strategy across multiple engineering teams, platforms or domains.
• Deep expertise in backend engineering, software architecture and systems design.
• Experience building scalable APIs, automation platforms and distributed systems.
• Strong cloud engineering experience across AWS, Azure or similar environments.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical vision for security engineering platforms, automation capabilities and API services.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple security engineering squads and drive platform capabilities.
• Champion modern software engineering practices across design, testing, deployment and operations.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor and mentor engineers across the organization.
