Job summary

The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Principal Project Officer to join the NSW EPA. You will be responsible for leading the delivery of the NSW State of the Environment Report, a high-profile whole-of-government project that provides an assessment of the health and condition of NSW’s environment.

As Principal Project Officer, you will take end-to-end responsibility for planning and delivering the report, coordinating complex inputs across NSW Government agencies and working collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. You will provide strategic project leadership across all stages of the report’s development, from establishing project plans, governance and delivery milestones through to coordinating content and supporting the final production and publication of the report.

This role will suit an experienced project professional who is highly organised, collaborative and outcomes-focused, with the ability to navigate complexity, manage competing priorities and bring stakeholders together to deliver a major project.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Extensive experience in planning, implementing and managing complex projects involving multidisciplinary teams to achieve priority objectives.
• Experience influencing stakeholders to take action and deliver agreed outcomes to achieve objectives in projects related to the environment, climate change, energy, manufacturing, or mining.
• Highly developed project management skills, including the ability to establish effective governance, manage risks and dependencies, coordinate multiple workstreams and navigate competing priorities.
• Highly developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate with NSW Government agencies, subject matter experts and other stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience developing and writing high-quality reports, with the ability to turn complex information into concise and accessible content for a broad audience.
