Job summary

Hudson RPO is partnering with a pioneer in Australian technology to hire a Principal Software Engineer for the Sydney AI engineering team. This hands-on role leads architectural direction for an AI-powered data enrichment product, mentoring engineers and collaborating across teams to deliver agentic capabilities and scalable solutions.

You will work with NLP, document intelligence and model-backed components, shipping AI features across SaaS and on-prem environments, while ensuring reliability,

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science/engineering, software engineering, machine learning, mathematics or related field.
• 10+ years software engineering experience with large-scale solutions.
• Experience shipping AI/ML products desirable.
• Strong backend Java with Spring; full-stack with TypeScript/React; backend essential.
• Python exposure valuable when working with data scientists/ML workflows.
• Experience with on-prem and SaaS/cloud delivery (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, AWS).
• Experience building or integrating AI/LLM-backed features.
• Familiarity with NLP, document intelligence or data-enrichment technologies.
• Hands-on and strategic, strong communicator, cross-team collaboration.
• Self-driven, autonomous and proactive about technical improvements.

Responsibilities

• Take a leading role in application architecture with the Architecture function.
• Set and uphold engineering standards across code quality and security.
• Improve product reliability and performance; troubleshoot complex issues.
• Contribute production code and perform thoughtful PR reviews.
• Mentor engineers across levels and grow team capability.
• Contribute to AI agenting design, planning and deployment in the platform.
