Job summary

The Department of Education Victoria – Bairnsdale VIC invites applications for a Wellbeing Counsellor at Bairnsdale West Primary School to provide counselling and wellbeing support to students, using evidence-based practices and a commitment to student welfare.

You will undertake case management, support families, and work within a multi-disciplinary team to foster resilience and positive outcomes across the school community.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated understanding of wellbeing/welfare work and current practices.
• Experience in development and implementation of resilience programs for students.
• Knowledge of case management and student support strategies in educational settings.
• Experience in working within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including cultural competence and sensitivity.

Responsibilities

• Provide counselling sessions and wellbeing support to BWPS students.
• Undertake case management with students and families, including multi-stakeholder consultation.
• Develop and organise evidence-based wellbeing programs.
• Promote Restorative Practice and supportive student relationships.
• Collaborate with community services and refer students/families as needed.
• Document and report on wellbeing activities and outcomes.
