Job summary

Eos Group is seeking an Opto Mechanical Technician to join our Brisbane team, focusing on precision assembly of opto-mechanical systems, optical alignment, and rigorous testing. You will contribute to development and production of advanced optical instruments in a safety-conscious, quality-driven environment.

The role requires CAD interpretation, drawing literacy, and hands-on experience with metrology tools, with eligibility for NV1 security clearance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in precision mechanical assembly or related fields
• Experience interpreting technical drawings and CAD models
• Australian citizen with NV1 security clearance eligibility

Responsibilities

• Assemble precision opto-mechanical systems, optical instruments, and electromechanical assemblies.
• Install and align optical components including lenses, mirrors, filters, beam splitters, cameras, sensors, and laser systems.
• Perform mechanical fitting, adjustment, and calibration of precision components.
• Build prototypes and production units in accordance with engineering drawings and documented procedures.
• Conduct cable routing, harness installation, and basic electrical integration activities.
• Execute system-level functional, environmental, and performance testing.
• Perform optical alignment and verification using metrology and test equipment.
• Record and analyse test results and report deviations or non-conformances.
• Support troubleshooting and root-cause investigations on product and manufacturing issues.
• Diagnose faults in mechanical, optical, and electromechanical systems.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
• Repair or replace defective components and verify system performance after repair.
• Maintain calibration status of tools and test equipment.
• Ensure all work complies with quality standards, engineering specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Adhere to ESD, cleanroom, optical handling, laser safety, and workplace safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment.
