Job description

CatholicCare Social Services – Toowoomba QLD

Full-time and Part-time roles available. Contract until 30 June 2027 (may be extended subject to funding)

About the Programs

The practitioner will work across a range of service activities within the Family and Community Program (funded by the Commonwealth Department of Social Services) and the Family and Relationship Services Program (funded by the Commonwealth Attorney Generals Dept).

These activities broadly include the provision of early intervention and prevention supports to individual, couples and families at critical transition points including formation, relationship pressures, separation or divorce, along with services which help families to navigate the family law system during separation, as well as supporting families to create and maintain sustainable parenting arrangements

The Role

The Practitioner provides a range of interventions to individuals, couples, children and families including individual, children, couples and family counselling, psycho-educational groups. The practitioner will be outcomes focused, and bring a child-inclusive, strengths-based, trauma-informed, risk-responsive and culturally competent practice framework.

Selection Criteria

• Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, Social Sciences or equivalent, and hold or be eligible for membership of AASW, APS, PACFA or ACA.
• Demonstrated experience and application of evidence-based practices in relation to individual, child, family and relationship services including counselling, education, group interventions in accordance with legal, contractual and organisation obligations.
• Strong knowledge of the issues affecting families and children at all life and development stages.
• Demonstrated well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to respectfully and appropriately interact and support clients and key stakeholders.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in client risk assessment and management including child protection, DFV, mental health, suicidality, homelessness and drug and alcohol use.
• Demonstrated ability to work professionally and cooperatively within and across teams to ensure high-quality, and response service delivery to meet client needs.
• Demonstrated ability to work with Microsoft office suite and customised client management systems.
• A demonstrated commitment to working in accordance with the Purpose, Mission, and values of CatholicCare.
• Knowledge and experience in the provision of child-inclusive practice

To be appointed to this role, applicants must:

• Hold a valid current driver’s licence and the capacity to undertake outreach work where required.
• Have a current Qld Working with Children Check – ‘Blue Card’
• Provide a valid National Police Clearance issued within the last three months. Checks must be conducted through an ACIC-accredited provider (e.g., Australian National Character
• Check, Rapid Screening, National Crime Check) and must include purpose Code 37 for
• child-related work. If applicable, have evidence of Australian Work Rights to confirm citizenship or a visa holder.
