Job summary

Paxus is seeking a Power BI Developer in Melbourne, VIC, to design, develop and maintain interactive dashboards, reports and data visualisations for a 12-month contract. You will translate business needs into scalable BI solutions and collaborate with analysts and engineers to deliver KPI-driven insights.

Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, DAX, Power Query and SQL is essential, with exposure to Azure data services considered desirable.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years' experience in Power BI development or BI analytics.
• Strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query and data modelling.
• Solid SQL skills for data extraction and validation.
• Experience with Power BI Service: workspaces, refreshes, gateways, access management.
• Familiarity with Azure data services such as Azure SQL, Data Factory, Synapse, or Databricks is desirable.

Our client is looking for Power BI Developer who can design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and data visualisations to support business and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Translate business requirements and reporting needs into effective Power BI solutions and data models
• Develop and optimise semantic models using Power BI, DAX, and Power Query
• Integrate data from multiple sources including databases, APIs, Excel, SharePoint, and cloud-based platforms
• Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to define reporting requirements and KPIs
• Contribute to reporting standards, reusable components, documentation, and continuous improvement of BI practices

What you'll bring:

• 3-5+ years' experience in Power BI development, Business Intelligence, data analytics, or similar roles
• Strong hands-on experience developing dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI
• Strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query and data modelling
• Solid SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, analysis, and validation
• Experience with Power BI Service including workspaces, scheduled refreshes, gateways, access management, and deployment
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure data services such as Azure SQL, Data Factory, Synapse, or Databricks is desirable
