Job summary

The Australian National University invites applications for a three-year, full-time Postdoctoral Fellow in the Research School of Earth Sciences. The appointee will conduct experimental and analytical research on salt melts in iron oxide copper-gold systems as part of an ANU–BHP collaboration, commencing in 2027.

The role emphasises independent research with opportunities for supervision of research students, collaboration with ANU researchers and BHP partners, and contribution to laboratory

Qualifications

• Experience with experimental petrology methods including 1-atm gas mixing furnaces and piston-cylinder apparatuses.
• Demonstrated experience in mineralogical microanalytical techniques (SEM-EDS, EPMA-WDS, LA-ICP-MS, FTIR).
• Ability to contribute to research and potentially supervise students where relevant.

Responsibilities

• Conduct experimental and analytical research on salt melts in iron oxide copper-gold systems.
• Contribute primarily to research with minor service, laboratory and project responsibilities.
• Collaborate with ANU researchers and BHP collaborators.
