Job summary

Monash University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow–Future Lives at the Clayton campus. You will lead fieldwork across Pacific Island countries and PNG, co-design culturally grounded analytical frameworks, and collaborate with CEVAW partners to inform workforce training.

This 3-year fixed-term appointment offers a generous remuneration package and opportunities to publish and contribute to policy impact.

Qualifications

• PhD in Indigenous Studies, Gender Studies, or related discipline.
• Experience collaborating ethically with Indigenous communities across the Pacific and PNG.
• Knowledge of interdisciplinary and Indigenous-centred research approaches with peer-reviewed publications.
• Ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary team.
• Excellent written and oral communication with experience using analytical software.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-the-ground fieldwork across multiple Pacific and PNG sites.
• Co-design an analytical framework aligned with local contexts for training frontline workers.
• Co-supervise research staff and HDR students and contribute to training and ethics programs.
• Publish high-impact papers and present at international conferences and funding proposals.
