  • Based in College of Engineering, Information & Technology at the City East Campus

  • Full-time, fixed term contract for up to 24 months

  • Salary Range: Level A $103,962 - $111,384 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

Work that matters

This position is for the design of materials for advanced energy storage and conversion devices. Work includes designing and synthesizing high-performance electrode materials and electrolyte systems, conducting various characterizations, designing testing compartments, and testing for battery performance.


Develop next-generation materials for advanced energy storage and conversion technologies, with a focus on high-performance electrodes, electrolytes and battery systems. This research will contribute to innovative and sustainable energy solutions with the potential to support the transition towards a cleaner energy future.


The team

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Shizhang Qiao within a collaborative research team focused on advanced materials for energy storage and conversion. The team brings together expertise in materials chemistry, electrochemistry and battery technologies to address key challenges in sustainable energy and support the transition towards a low-carbon future.

Experience

To join our community and thrive in this role, you will likely have the following skills and experience:



  • A recent PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or related field.

  • Expertise in the synthesis of functional materials and their application in aqueous batteries, or flow cells.

  • Strong background in energy storage and conversion devices such as pouch cells, cylindrical cells, redox flow cells, etc.

  • Knowledge and experience in modern materials characterization methodologies, such as Microscopy, and in‑situ spectroscopy.

  • Excellent track record in scientific journal publications.
