Job summary

REA Group in Melbourne is seeking a Risk & Assurance Advisor for a 12-month contract to strengthen risk culture across Customer & Consumer and Product teams. You will implement the REA Risk Management Framework, advise on risk and compliance, and support risk assessments for strategic initiatives including technology and data changes.

The role requires 2+ years in risk or compliance, strong communication, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in Operational Risk, Compliance, Audit or related role.
• Experience in technology risk management or product development is desirable.
• Experience with risk profiles, change-risk or compliance reviews.
• Experience with customer/privacy, data, AI, third-party risk is valued.
• Strong report writing and stakeholder communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head of Risk to implement the REA Risk Management Framework across portfolios.
• Provide practical risk and compliance advice to the business and run risk workshops.
• Support risk assessments for strategic initiatives, projects, products, suppliers and changes in operations including tech, data and AI changes.
• Assist in maintaining Business Unit Risk Profiles with controls, KRIs and treatment plans.
• Identify, assess, manage and escalate risks, issues and incidents, including post-incident reviews.
• Analyse and report risk information for leadership and governance forums.
• Ensure risks, issues and audit actions are discussed and escalated promptly.
• Promote a risk-aware culture and early engagement with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Legal, Privacy, Security, Compliance, Internal Audit and Resilience functions.

Global Risk & Assurance is a group-wide function led by the Chief Risk Officer. The team works alongside business leaders and control owners to provide risk oversight, insight, practical advice and constructive challenge. Business leaders and control owners remain accountable for decisions, controls and outcomes, while Internal Audit provides an independent view of governance, risk management and controls.

Within Customer & Consumer and Product, the Risk & Assurance team works with leaders and teams to identify and manage risk early, support informed decision-making and strengthen risk culture. The team provides embedded support across risk assessments, material change, risk profiles, controls, KRIs, incidents and emerging risk themes. The Risk & Assurance Advisor plays an important role within the team and is a dedicated risk and compliance subject matter expert who works with assigned Customer & Consumer and Product business units to support the implementation of the REA Risk Management Framework and uplift risk culture.

What the role is all about

• Assist the Head of Risk and relevant business leaders to implement the REA Risk Management Framework across assigned portfolios.
• Provide practical risk and compliance advice to the business and facilitate risk workshops to identify, assess and report on key risks.
• Support risk assessments for strategic initiatives, projects, products, suppliers and changes in business operations, including technology, data and AI-related change.
• Assist partner businesses to consider the risks associated with product and process change by conducting Change Risk Assessments and supporting the development of appropriate controls and treatment plans.
• Assist in maintaining the relevant Business Unit Risk Profile, including compliance obligations, controls, KRIs and treatment plans, so that risks are articulated, mitigated and monitored.
• Support the identification, assessment, management and escalation of risks, issues, events, near misses and customer-impacting incidents, including post-incident reviews where required.
• Analyse and report key information relating to the management of risk exposures and prepare clear updates for relevant leadership and risk governance forums.
• Assist in ensuring risks, issues, events and audit actions are discussed, addressed and escalated in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Assist the Head of Risk to promote a culture that is risk aware, appropriately responsive and focused on early engagement.
• Work with Legal, Privacy, Security, Compliance, Internal Audit, Resilience and other specialist functions where additional advice, approval or assurance is required.

Who we’re looking for

• At least 2 years’ experience in an Operational Risk, Compliance, Audit, Assurance or related role, demonstrating good knowledge of risks and controls.
• Previous experience in technology risk management, audit, compliance reviews or an understanding of product development principles and practices is desirable.
• Experience in undertaking risk profile, change-risk or compliance reviews, including controls testing, will be highly valuable.
• Experience working with customer, privacy, fraud, data, AI, third-party or regulatory risk will be regarded favourably.
• Strong business and report writing skills.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare engaging and persuasive messages for business and senior stakeholders.
• Strong ability to multi-task and prioritise delivery of key projects and initiatives across own workload and team priorities.
• The ability to build trusted relationships and provide constructive challenge while remaining practical and commercially aware.
