Job description

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

It is an exciting time to be part of Jacobs as our Ports & Maritime business continues to deliver complex infrastructure projects that connect communities, support trade and strengthen coastal resilience. From major port developments and marine terminals to coastal protection projects and waterfront infrastructure, we're helping clients tackle some of the industry's most important challenges while shaping the future of our coastlines and maritime networks. A port expansion that supports growing trade and economic development. Coastal infrastructure designed to protect communities and adapt to changing environmental conditions. Innovative marine structures that improve connectivity and operational efficiency. Our Ports & Maritime team brings together Coastal Engineers and Maritime Structural Engineers to provide integrated solutions across the full project lifecycle, from planning and feasibility through to detailed design and delivery.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Intern Ports & Maritime Engineer to join our Ports & Maritime team, with Brisbane as the preferred location and Perth also available. During your internship, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside both Coastal Engineers and Maritime Structural Engineers, gaining exposure to the planning, analysis and design of coastal, marine and port infrastructure projects.

You'll support projects involving ports, harbours, marine structures, coastal protection works and waterfront infrastructure while developing an understanding of the technical, environmental and operational considerations that influence project outcomes. Working alongside our experienced engineers, you'll provide meaningful input on real projects, and we'll mentor you each step of the way to help you build both technical and professional skills.

Here’s what you’ll need

Ideally, you're in your penultimate year at university studying a Bachelor of Civil Engineering. This is a unique role that requires applicants to hold the right to work in Australia. Bring your curiosity, collaborative spirit and strong communication skills, and we'll help you grow, pursue and fulfil what drives you, so we can make big impacts on the world, together.

Our Summer Internship Program

As an Intern at Jacobs, you’ll be a valued member of our team from Day 1 and work on real projects, bids and tenders from the get-go. Under the guidance and mentorship of our experts and industry leaders you’ll be equipped with the skills and knowledge to deliver the boldest solutions for the extraordinary and the everyday.

From gaining hands‑on experience to participating in networking events and structured learning sessions, you’ll find new and inventive ways to help our clients make the world a better place. You'll impact the world around you by helping us solve real-life challenges. YOU are the future of our company. We’ll rely on you to provide support to our teams on critical projects while fostering a culture of continuous learning and inclusion as you bring fresh ideas to the table.

We see our interns and graduates as the future leaders of our business, which is why we’re delighted to have placed #23 in the Australian Financial Review’s Top 100 Graduate Employers award for Most Popular Employer in 2024 and featured in the Top 10 for Most Popular Engineering Employer Award.
