Job summary

Snowy Monaro Regional Council recruits for a casual pool lifeguard role in Berridale, NSW. The position covers operation and maintenance of aquatic facilities, water quality monitoring, and customer service for pool users.

Staff may relieve across Bombala, Jindabyne, and Berridale pools and handle duties from setup to cash reconciliation. Candidate must hold lifeguard certification with current First Aid/CPR, strong customer service, and WHS compliance.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard Certification with current First Aid/CPR where required.
• Strong customer service and public relations skills.
• Experience in public pool supervision and water testing.
• Commitment to WHS practices and safe work.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
• Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and NSW Class C Licence.
• Basic maintenance knowledge of pool facilities and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate efficient operation of Council pools for safe customer enjoyment.
• Perform routine pool and equipment maintenance and monitor water quality.
• Prepare facilities and clean pools, amenities, and surroundings.
• Provide relief at Bombala, Jindabyne and Berridale pools as needed.
• Process entries, memberships and light kiosk sales; reconcile cash daily.
• Complete operational paperwork and uphold professional conduct and accountability.

Package: $45.63 per hour + 12 % super (Grade 6 of the SMRC Salary System 2026-2027)

Casual role up to 20 hours per week

About the Role:

• Facilitate the operation of Council's swimming pools effectively and efficiently for the safe enjoyment of all customers.
• Undertake routine operations and maintenance of Aquatic facilities and pool equipment.
• Monitor and document water quality and temperature and correct as necessary.
• Prepare and set up the facility, including cleaning of pools, amenities, and surrounding grounds/facilities.
• Be available for relief work at all Council operated pools as required- Bombala, Jindabyne and Berridale
• Process entries, memberships, and light kiosk sales. Reconcile daily cash sales.
• Complete operational documentation relevant to the position.
• Contribute to the performance of Council: demonstrate professional conduct, make the best use of knowledge, experience and skills and be accountable for own decisions and actions.

About You:

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Lifeguard Certification including the following (or willingness to gain):

1. Current Senior First Aid Certificate recognised by the Work Cover Authority
2. Current Provide CPR certificate recognised by the Work Cover Authority

• Good public relations and customer service skills
• Experience in public pool supervision, management, operation and water testing
• Understanding and commitment to workplace health and safety practices and principles
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Current Working with Children Check
• Current NSW Class C Drivers Licence
• Basic knowledge and understanding of maintenance and minor repairs to buildings, lawns, gardens, pumps and other plant associated with public swimming pools.
