Job summary

Osborne Richardson is partnering with Quilpie Shire Council in South West Queensland to offer a permanent Plumber role leading the water and sewerage crew across the Shire. This hands‑on position delivers essential services and an opportunity to mentor apprentices while delivering high‑quality plumbing and drainage work.

You will plan daily works, supervise labour and equipment, carry out sampling per DWQMP, and provide technical guidance to staff and contractors.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Plumbing and Drainage.
• Knowledge of plumbing, drainage and wastewater management standards and legislation.
• Knowledge of Drinking Water Quality Management Plans (DWQMP).
• Current MR Class licence (or willingness to obtain).
• Current General Construction Induction (White) Card.
• Current vaccinations (Tetanus, Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B) or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to read engineering design drawings, plus basic job costing and sound communication skills.
• Local government water/sewerage experience and an HR licence would be a big plus, but aren't essential.

Responsibilities

• Plumbing and drainage construction, maintenance and operation across Council's water supply networks, sewerage infrastructure, pump stations, treatment facilities, buildings and parks.
• Planning and coordinating daily works, including labour, plant, equipment and materials.
• Carrying out water and sewerage sampling and testing in line with DWQMP.
• Providing sound technical advice to Council staff, contractors, regulators and the public.
• Mentoring apprentices and labourers through on-the-job training and coaching.
• Keeping accurate records of works, inspections, testing results and asset information.
• Operating and maintaining plant and equipment, and travelling to sites throughout the Shire.
