Job summary

Portarlington Bowls Club is seeking a playing coach for the 2026/2027 season. The coach will lead structured training sessions and prepare players for Pennant bowls, while assisting in team selection and development across grades.

The role emphasizes providing feedback, enabling learning across different team roles, and supporting recruitment and retention. Participation in meetings and collaboration with volunteer coaches are required.

Qualifications

  • Accredited Coach with appropriate level (or prepared to obtain Accreditation prior to appointment)
  • Demonstrated playing experience and ability to perform at the highest level
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiastic, disciplined and dedicated
  • Flexible and innovative

Responsibilities

  • Structured and planned training sessions
  • Preparation of the players for playing Pennant bowls
  • Assisting in the selection and preparation of all Pennant teams
  • Developing each player’s potential and providing opportunities to learn different team roles
  • Providing positive feedback and post game analysis to the players
  • Assisting with player recruitment and retention
  • Adherence to player selection guidelines
  • Advising both Selection and match Committees
  • Liaising with volunteer accredited coaches within our club
  • Communicating with players when moved between grades (both up and down)
  • Attending club meetings as scheduled
