Job summary

Neilson Financial Services is seeking a hands-on Platform Engineer to own the day-to-day CI/CD for the Dataworks team in Sydney. You'll work on pipelines across GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps, with Azure deployments using Terraform or Bicep and an emphasis on AI tooling.

Hybrid work (3 days in office on Pitt Street, 2 from home) and a clearly scoped 6‑month fixed-term contract with defined milestones.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in platform engineering, DevOps, or build/release engineering.
• Genuine hands‑on depth across GitLab, GitHub, and Azure DevOps.
• Production Azure experience, including networking, Entra ID, and compute.
• Terraform or Bicep, plus scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Practical experience using AI coding agents or building agentic workflows.
• Solid grasp of the SDLC, including branching and change control.
• Full work rights in Australia - no sponsorship provided

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines across GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps Pipelines
• Collaborate with Dataworks engineers to turn delivery needs into repeatable pipelines
• Deploy to Azure with Terraform or Bicep, including AKS where applicable
• Build security scanning, auditability, and change control into every pipeline
• Use AI coding tools and agentic workflows to speed up development
• Document everything so the Dataworks team can own it later
