Job summary

BlueScope is seeking a Mechanical Reliability Engineer to join the Plate Mill team at Port Kembla. You will report to the Asset Manager and focus on improving equipment reliability, eliminating recurring failures and driving maintenance strategy across the Plate Mill.

You will lead defect elimination, RCA activities, and reliability projects, partnering with Mechanical Maintenance Coordinators, Tradespeople and Operations to maximise plant availability and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in heavy industry and large-scale manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of reliability-centred maintenance (RCM).
• Experience leading defect elimination, RCA and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead defect elimination and RCA activities to improve plant reliability and performance.
• Develop, review and optimise maintenance strategies for critical assets.
• Analyse performance data to identify improvement opportunities and drive lifecycle asset management.
• Lead equipment improvement, refurbishment and reliability projects from concept through implementation.
• Provide guidance for complex equipment failures and operations issues.
• Coach maintenance personnel and promote a reliability culture.
• Support shutdowns and major maintenance activities with safe execution.
