Job summary

Bega Valley Shire Council is seeking an experienced Plant Operator Grader to operate a grader and assorted plant for road construction and maintenance assets. You will help plan and schedule works, review plans and maintain records including logbooks, timesheets and incident reports.

The role requires a SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction Card and Civil Plant Licence (Grader at minimum), plus three years of plant experience on road projects.

The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for an experienced individual to operate a Grader plus a variety of plant equipment for the purpose of constructing and maintaining BVSC road assets.

As a Plant Operator Grader, you will operate various plant and vehicles on road construction and maintenance projects and participate in the planning and scheduling of road making and maintenance activities. You will assist in reviewing plans, determine scope of works, and make recommendations where appropriate and maintain workplace documentation including (but not limited to) logbooks, records and statistics, timesheets, action requests, records of meetings, incident reports, plant hire sheets, and quality assurance records.

About You

We are seeking an individual who has a SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction Card and has Civil Plant Licence or Competency (Grader at a minimum).

You will have the following skills and experience;

  • Proven recent mechanical grader operation experience working on unsealed pavement asset maintenance activities or similar including; graders, rollers and backhoes.
  • Three (3) years recent plant experience working on road construction and maintenance projects. (Indicative).
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in civil engineering works which may include (but not limited to): road construction and maintenance, earth moving, laying of pipe and box culverts, shouldering, drainage maintenance and installation of environmental controls.
  • Experience in operating and using a variety of hand and power tools which may include (but not be limited to) chainsaws, spray equipment and pumps.
  • Experience in the use of proprietary software to capture maintenance data.
Benefits

This is a permanent, full time position working 38 hours per week.

The total remuneration package for this position commences at $77,336.90 gross per annum, comprising of:

  • $1,327.90 per week base salary
  • $159.35 per week superannuation (calculated at 12%)
