Job summary

Mount Isa Mines, part of Glencore, invites a Plant Metallurgist to join the Metallurgical Technical Services team in Mount Isa. This residential role offers a 5/2 roster with relocation support if needed to move to Mount Isa, delivering technical support to the Copper Smelter and driving metallurgical improvement initiatives.

You will work with Operations, Maintenance and Planning to monitor performance, optimise processes, enhance recovery, reduce costs and improve environmental performance,

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience in pyrometallurgy and/or copper smelting operations.
• Proficiency in metallurgical data analysis and process improvement techniques based on the attached advert

Responsibilities

• Analyse plant performance and provide day-to-day technical support to Production teams.
• Monitor metallurgical performance indicators and provide technical recommendations to support operational decision-making.
• Support ISASMELT operations through disciplined process control and optimisation of operating parameters.
• Conduct investigations, trials and data analysis to resolve process challenges and improve plant performance.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Refinery, Planning and Technical teams to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
• Deliver metallurgical improvement projects focused on safety, recovery, cost reduction, process stability and environmental performance.
• Maintain technical reporting, documentation and process monitoring systems to support continuous improvement.
